Do any of you Twitter? I know this is completely random and should be put on my personal blog, but it’s 12:43 am and I can’t sleep.
Why?
Because I can’t figure Twitter out. I just don’t get it. Please Help! And if you do get it – please be my friend so I can learn by example. 😉 Maybe that’s my problem, I don’t have anyone to talk to.

Hi Laurie!
Twitter confuses a lot of newcomers because it really is as simple as it looks. You search for friends, or people you’d like to follow. Then you just answer the question What are you doing, or post any other particular thought, or even link.
My favourite part of FaceBook is reading everybody’s status, and that’s all Twitter is really – your status. Frame of mind. A little snapshot into your head.
Have fun with it!
I am an educator and I use twitter to network with other educators. We share links, lesson ideas, interesting things we do in the classroom, discuss ideas, and ask/give help to various technology/teaching issues. I suppose crafters could develop a similar network of people to follow to share ideas and inspirations.
I couldn’t figure out what the big deal either. I signed up for an account, but never used it.
Then I had a bloggy friend ask if I was on Twitter because she’d like to follow me. I looked at hers and another blogger that I knew tweeted and suddenly it just clicked!!
It’s like a mini-blog. 140 characters to be exact.
Bear in mind, I’ve only been
“tweeting” for a few weeks, but here are the highlights for me.
1. You can let people know you have a new post up or just post random thoughts. Most of my tweets are quite random!
2. You can reply to someone’s tweet and have a “chat” in some ways.
3. You can do it from your phone (I would only recommend this if you have a large text messaging plan, possibly unlimited), the internet, or from a third party application on your desktop.
I’m keeping it simple and I just tweet on the twitter website. Feel free to follow me–oikology101–on twitter.
Hope this was a little helpful. I’m sure you’ll get lots of better advice once everyone’s up this morning!
I feel the same way! People talk about it and how cool it is, but I just can’t get into it. I need a twitter tutorial!
