National Spaghetti Day
What is National Spaghetti Day? Well, National Spaghetti Day is a day set aside to enjoy spaghetti. Although the Italians have definitely revolutionized pasta, it appears that that Arabs invented it thousands of years ago. Historical references show that dried pasta was sold by vendors in as far back as the 5th century!
Spaghetti is the round, thin, rod shaped pasta, but of course there are many shapes of pasta that are commonly also called spaghetti. It can be served plain or with tomato sauce, meat, cheese, garlic, oil and other herbs and spices.
Here’s a fun fact about Spaghetti: The world record for the largest bowl of spaghetti was set in March of 2010 when a California Buca di Beppo Restaurant filled a swimming pool with 13,780 pounds of pasta. WOWSERS!
National Spaghetti Day is celebrated on January 4th of each year.
