Hi everyone!
I’m Mique (as in Mickey Mouse 🙂 from 30days.
I was thrilled that Laurie asked me to fill in for the day.
She was one of my first “blog friends” but I had the chance to
meet her this past spring and she’s even more fun and fiery in person!
When Laurie asked me to guest post I decided it try to compile a fun organizational post. One that will actually inspire you instead of make you want to curl into the fetal position.
It’s that time of year again. Time to step on a scale, make resolutions and try to organize our lives. If you are anything like me, organizing doesn’t come naturally. I’ve thought for awhile that most creative people don’t come pre-wired for organization (though there are people like Laurie to prove my theory wrong ;).
I recently found a book called Hannah’s Art of Home by Hannah Keeley. It has opened my eyes completely. Hannah talks about how each of us need to embrace our style and personality to figure out what would work best in our homes. It’s funny and down to earth- and has once again inspired me to take on my closets and tackle my cabinets. You can read an interview by her here to get an idea of how she approaches her book.

{If you get nothing else from this post I want you to realize that everyone can find a way that works for them. Find what works and do it (that’s my goal anyway).}
To kick start your 2009 I’m giving away a copy of my new fave find, Hannah’s Art of Home .
Also Laurie and I recently combined efforts for some updated versions to her binder. So along with the book, you’ll get an updated Executive Homemaker binder. We’ll have details of how everyone can download their own version here on Tip Junkie soon.
To win, tell us what your biggest organizational challenge is on this post
by next Tuesday, January 13th.
My biggest organizing challenge this year, well, it’s not so much the organizing that will be the challenge, but getting the motivation to do so. I was starting to make some headway in this department when my husband was diagnosed with Liposarcoma (a very rare cancer of the fat cells). Last year consisted of three surgeries for him, a round of chemo and the last 2 months of his life in the hospital. We had started to renovate our home and alot of our belongings were stashed in rooms they don’t belong, and so I will have to finish this up on my own. It will be very difficult, but I will do it, I have to. He asked me to finish making this house the home we hoped it would be. I will do this for him.

My biggest challenge is organizing my scrapbook stuff. I always am buying new things so I run out of room in that container and so on. Maybe I should just stop buying things! My hubby would love that!
i think our biggest challenge right now is the kids craft stuff. i want it to be accessible to them…but the only space we have for them is our eating area.
My biggest challenge is that my house has no storage! Not even a linen closet! When I moved in here 4 years ago, I bought a little shelf to put towels & other linens on & a tote for sheets & blankets. Now we've lived here for this long & have accumulated more stuff. I also started rubber stamping so that's another storage dilemma!
Thanks for this chance, and for holding down Tip Junkie while our leader is out for surgery!

My biggest challenge is paperwork (bills, school work, mail) everything ends up on my kitchen counter. I need some serious help!
I used to be so organized but 8 yrs. ago, I had my last child and he had special needs and it takes all of my energy. So I find that I carry all of my paperwork around in a bag and when (if) I get a chance to work on it then I will otherwise it is carried in my bag day after day. Please help!
Thanks!
