I’m Mique (as in Mickey Mouse 🙂 from 30days.
I was thrilled that Laurie asked me to fill in for the day.
She was one of my first “blog friends” but I had the chance to
meet her this past spring and she’s even more fun and fiery in person!
When Laurie asked me to guest post I decided it try to compile a fun organizational post. One that will actually inspire you instead of make you want to curl into the fetal position.
It’s that time of year again. Time to step on a scale, make resolutions and try to organize our lives. If you are anything like me, organizing doesn’t come naturally. I’ve thought for awhile that most creative people don’t come pre-wired for organization (though there are people like Laurie to prove my theory wrong ;).
I recently found a book called Hannah’s Art of Home by Hannah Keeley. It has opened my eyes completely. Hannah talks about how each of us need to embrace our style and personality to figure out what would work best in our homes. It’s funny and down to earth- and has once again inspired me to take on my closets and tackle my cabinets. You can read an interview by her here to get an idea of how she approaches her book.

“follow-thru challenged”…thats my prob….I can organize quite well when I put my mind to it….but keeping things that way is another story!!!!
I’d have to say, laundry is my biggest challenge. Even though my kids don’t have a ton of clothes, there always seems to be an abundance of laundry all over the floor, and not just dirty but clean as well. I think I wash just as many clean clothes as dirty! Drives me crazy!
My biggest organizing challenge is paperwork…what to save, what to toss, and what to do with it all! Next, is everything else…it all piles up! I need an intervention!

I have that exact same spice rack and was thinking of adding it to my yard sale pile b/c I just don’t use it (just takes up counter space). I’m SO excited to see that there is another purpose I can use it for, I’d have never thought to use it for ods and ends instead of spices!! I would say my biggest challenge is my kitchen, I feel like I’m always cleaning organizing but it’s just up to my standards
My biggest challenge is my bedroom. When we moved in we did a one month overhaul on the house and every room got done but my room. So now that it is the one room that isn’t pretty it gets dumped on (poor room). I think I just need some motivation (and some money) and I will get it done (maybe!)
