Noise Makers and Party Hats
Every good New Years’ Eve party has noisemakers and party hats. It doesn’t matter what age you are, it’s just fun to usher in the New Year with lots of noise in a boisterous way. Provide a bunch of hats, noisemakers, even pots and pans to bang so that everyone has something to grab when the time comes!
Music
Your party news some good tunes, so when you invite your guests ask them to give you a list of at least 5 top songs they’d like to hear played at your party. Load all of the song requests onto your iPod before the party so that you have a playlist made that can last the whole party and it’s one less thing you have to worry about.
Drinks
Drinks can get pretty pricey if you are the host! If things are tight after the holidays, you can provide champagne for New Year’s and make the rest of the party Bring Your Own.
If your party is Non-Alcoholic, then be sure to provide plenty of bottled water and sodas.
It’s always fun on New Years to set up a bar area to pour drinks whether alcohol is served or not. Provide little umbrellas, lime wedges, and cherries to make the drinks a little something special.
Mints
New Year’s Eve is the night to get a little smoochy, so help your guests keep their breath minty fresh. Set out a few bowls or packs of mints for your guests to sample. They’ll appreciate it! No one wants to remember their New Year’s Eve kiss as one that was less than fresh.
Decorations
You don’t need to go all out, but a few decorations are nice. You can’t go wrong with a New Year’s Banner, balloons, and lots of bling. Make use of the internet and your DIY skills. There are tons of easy tutorials online where you can make resolution trees, centerpieces, stir sticks and so much more; all with items you probably already have on hand.
Photo Props
You’ve got to have photo props so that your guests can have fun making photographic memories. Everyone has photo props these days, so don’t be left in the dark. {wink}
