Father’s Day is just around the corner. I had an idea to trace our kids hands and make butter cream icing transfers to decorate the cake. It was my first time – and honestly it wasn’t that difficult. My cake may not be a professional masterpiece, but it’s made with love for my husband and our little ones daddy this Father’s Day.

- INSTRUCTIONS
- 1. Trace your kids hands on a piece of paper. Use scotch tape to anchor to counter or table.
- 2. Place a piece of waxed paper over tracing and secure with scotch tape.
- 3. Mix icing colour for outline and pipe border of hands.
- 4. Mix another colour to fill inside and pipe 1/4 inch thick.
- 5. Take off scotch tape and carefully transfer waxed paper to cookie sheet. I put another piece of waxed paper over, but not touching the icing.
- 6. Place into the freezer for at least 45 minutes or until set.
- 7. While the icing transfer is setting, assemble and ice your cake if you haven't already done this.
- 8. Decorate the sides with candy buttons.
- 9. Take the icing transfer out of the freezer and invert on top of cake.
- 10. Pipe #1 and Dad on hand prints.
- 11. Insert straws in cake. Tie on ribbon or twine.
- 12. Measure and cut art work for banner. I put mine in 4 separate panels and used double sided tape to secure on the ribbon.
