I’m a huge fan of a bean bag toss. Really any tossing game is going to be a hit with small children. Therefore, I knew it would be a bit hit at our Blue and Gold Banquet for Cub Scouts.
The great thing about this game is that you could use this template and tips to make almost any character for a fun party theme, carnival game, play group activity for kids, or summer boredom buster.

How to Make:
I was in a huge time crunch. So here’s how I quickly transformed these bean bag toss games from The Lego Movie characters into 3 silly Minions from Despicable Me.
1. Yellow Tri-fold Poster Board
Since the Minions have yellow faces, I started with a extra large yellow tri-fold poster-board typically used for Science projects. I removed the paper from the Lego men I had previously created out of them. Therefore, use whatever color poster-board your characters are in. If you had to, you could use butcher paper to wrap a white Science Fair poster board.
2. Cut out the Mouth
If you’re starting this Minion craft from scratch, next use the X-acto Knife to carefully cut out big silly mouths for the bean bags to be tossed into. To create the teeth, I just took a 12 x 12 piece of scrapbook paper and cut out scallops on one side and taped them on from the backside.
3. Print Out the Eyes
For the eyes I printed out these Free Printable Despicable Me 2 Minion Goggles and Mouths larger than their original size. At first, I printed them in black and white and on draft a couple times until I got the size that was proportional to the poster boards. Then once I had the right size, I printed them out in full color on matte photo paper so there wouldn’t be a glare for pictures.
To make the band for the Goggles, I cut black construction paper in thick horizontal strips and glued them on.
4. Make the Hair
To create their crazy hair, I cut long thin black strips out of black construction paper. I only glued one end of the hair so it had a 3D effect which created movement.
5. Secure the Poster Board from Falling
To keep the tri-fold poster-boards from falling over when hit with the bean bag ~ I cut 2 holes on the back of each side. {see above picture} Then threaded ribbon to hold the two sides together. This gave it the stability it needed to endure 50 kids throwing bean bags at it. {wink}
How to Play:
The object of this game is to toss the bean bags so they land inside the hole. {or mouth} You can play this in teams or individually. The person or team with the most points, wins.
This game was a huge hit for all age groups at our Blue and Gold Banquet for Cub Scouts.
