Leave Home With Electronic Devices Fully Charged
Chances are, you are going to be using your electronic devices a lot during your trip. If you have delays, you might need your phone to make new arrangements, etc., so you want to make sure you start your trip off with a full charge.
Wear Comfortable Shoes
Whether you fly or drive, wear comfortable, slip-on shoes. During cold weather travel, I always wear fleece-lined slippers with a rubber sole so that I can slip them on and off easily at the airport if I’m flying or if I’m driving.
You want to wear shoes that are warm, but that you can also wear outside as you walk to and from your transportation.
Bring a Portable Charger
Don’t just count on bringing your USB cord, have a portable charger too. If you are flying, don’t count on being that one person that miraculously finds the seat in the airport near a plug-in station. It probably won’t happen.
Thanksgiving holiday travel is notorious for delays and heavy traffic so the airports will be busier than ever and those chargers will be gone. If you are driving, be sure you have a car adaptor so that you can charge while you drive.
Keep Your Clothes Smelling Fresh
Pack Bounce Dryer Sheets in your suitcase. It’ll keep your clothes smelling fresh during your entire trip so everyone is happier. It’s one of my favorite traveling hacks!
Travel When Most People Are Sleeping
This is particularly true for driving, especially long distances. Leave early in the morning or late at night in order to beat the traffic.
Bring an Empty Water Bottle
Fill up your water bottle after you’ve passed through security if you are flying. We all know water is super expensive at the airport. If you are delayed, you are going to want to have something to drink while you wait to board your plane.
Pack Snacks
Pack your own snacks. This is a great way to avoid overpaying for food. It makes sense that if you pack your snack you can make sure it’s healthy. This is key for travelers with special dietary concerns.
