6 Tips to Decorate A Beautiful Easter Table
1. Build a Solid Foundation.
Yep, decorate from the bottom upward! It may sound counter-intuitive but it really helps to start with a solid foundation to work from. This is where you’ll want to decide if you’re place settings will be disposable, fun, elegant, or a combination of each – like I did.
The foundation of your tablescape includes ~ table cloth, table runner, place mat, charger, and napkins. Last year I used wrapping paper instead of a plastic table cloth for quick clean up. However, this year I wanted a more elegant look so I used my fabulous cotton ruffled tablecloth my fabulous friend Cindy made me last year. {love her!}
To keep my Easter place setting inexpensive, I used:
- Placemats ~ 12×12 scrapbook paper
- Charger ~ Plastic square plates
- Plate ~ My white ceramic
- Napkins ~ Polkadot paper
As the foundation for Baskin-Robbins™ Bunny Cake centerpiece, my man made a molding table runner which I added moss to the middle of to bring in a pop of green. I placed it on top of an orange fabric table runner.
2. Made with Love.
Create an eye-catching table by adding layers of handmade elements to your decor.
To layer the place settings I started with a 12×12 piece of scrapbook paper as the placemat, square plastic plate as the charger, rectangle napkin, piece of ribbon, “Happy Easter” printable flag, ceramic white plate, and then topped it off with an origami Bunny napkin I folded out of orange cotton napkins. All of which took minutes to plop on the table. {high fives!}
Here are some Easter Craft Ideas I created for a ‘made with love’, handmade vibe:
- Origami Bunny Napkins
- Paper Carrot Garland
- Chalkboard Frame
- DIY Wood Table Runner with Moss
- Happy Easter Pennant {free printables, above}
- Bunny Tail Chair Backers
- Flowers with Candy Almonds
3. Mix in a Trend.
Mod patterns and shapes are all the rage! To keep your Happy Easter on trend, consider adding fun graphic patterns like chevron and quatrefoil to bring the mod to your place settings.
Wondering what colors are trending this spring? Then check out the Spring Pantone color report for all the latest. I’m swooning over the Celosia Orange which was the color foundation I chose for the place settings.
4. Keep it Simple.
When planning any tablescape stick with 2-3 colors. Many times the 4th color can take decor quickly from chic to cheap.
5. Add a Centerpiece.
This tablescape’s centerpiece is the Baskin-Robbins Bunny Roll Ice Cream Cake. The pink offers the perfect pop of color to tie everything together and the bunny is just so adorbs for spring! Your Easter cakes or DIY centerpieces should be pleasing to the eye, coordinate with the theme of the table, and if your guests are lucky ~ be edible. {wink}
