3-Ingredient Fake Blood
Probably the most coveted Halloween makeup item by kids and adults alike is fake blood. Have you ever noticed though that when you buy fake blood from the store that there never seems to be enough or it’s the wrong consistency?
Making fake blood is easier than you’d think.
You only need three ingredients to make fake blood:
- corn syrup
- corn starch,
- red food coloring.
To make fake blood, just mix 1 part water with 3 parts corn syrup. Then, slowly add red food coloring until you’ve made your mixture the correct color. Next, add corn starch (this will thicken the “blood”) until your mixture is the right consistency. Let your fake blood sit for a few minutes before applying.
You’ll notice that the recipe listed uses “parts” instead of exact measurements. That’s so that you can customize how much fake blood you make. You can make an itty bitty batch using a teaspoon as your parts measure or a larger batch using a tablespoon or quarter cup or even more. It’s up to you.
Queen of Hearts Lips
Draw a heart on the middle of your upper lip with a red lip liner. Then draw a circle on the middle of your bottom lip. Fill in the circle and heart and you have heart lips!
DIY Face Paint
DIY face paint is pretty much brilliant. You don’t have to worry about not having the right color or enough of one color because you are in charge of how much you make and the colors you make it in! Plus, you’ll save a ton of money.
You’ll need:
- 2 tsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp. water
- 1/2 tsp. shortening
- 2 drops of food coloring.
Apply with a makeup brush or sponge.
Make Mermaid Skin
You’ll need fishnet stockings to make mermaid skin.
- Put fishnet stocking on your limb where you want the mermaid skin.
- Spritz with water (works great if you spray from a spray bottle).
- Dab skin with shimmer eye shadow applied on a makeup sponge. Mix colors like green, blue, and silver.
- Carefully remove the stocking and you’ll have beautiful mermaid scales!
Apply Fake Lashes
Applying Fake lashes can be really difficult.
My favorite hack is to use a bobby pin.
Apply the glue to the end of the bobby pin and then apply to the lash line of the fake lashes. Next press onto your lash line. This will ensure that the glue doesn’t go everywhere helping to make sure you have mess-free fake lashes.
Easy Bruises
Gone are the days of trying to mix the perfect combination of makeup to achieve the look of a bruise and then have it wiped right off.
You can use permanent markers (don’t use this on your face) and hand sanitizer to make a great bruise. Use blue, purple, yellow, black, and green markers to color a bruise on your skin. Then smudge with hand sanitizer.
Make Fake Stubble
I absolutely love this makeup hack! To achieve the look of fake stubble, apply Vaseline to the jawline and mustache area and then press coffee grounds into the Vaseline. Allow to dry and you’ll have the appearance of stubble!
Hairy Warts
Kind of gross, right, but oh so fun.
You’ll need:
- Whole peppercorns
- corn syrup
- hair bristles from a paintbrush
- makeup.
You can glue peppercorns to your body using corn syrup. Dip the hairs in the syrup and attach it to the peppercorn. This, of course, makes them look hairy. Then, touch them up with makeup to match your makeup theme.
