There’s nothing I’d rather do in August than soak up the last lazy days of summer, which makes the thought of cleaning low on my want-to-do-list. So, I made the August organization and home repair checklist is easy on the “to-do’s”. Take the time to relax before it’s back to the grind! I’ve included very few tasks this month because I figure if I’m unmotivated to clean, you probably are too!

August Organization
Summer is almost over. {sob} My boys head back to school next week! I guess it’s time to get and stay organized so that my fall projects are not so daunting! If you have things that need to get organized like I do {projects never seem to end, do they?}, then I’ve got your back!
1. Inside the House ~ Cleaning
There are quite a few things inside your home that need to be deep cleaned that we sometimes forget about. I’ve listed some of the most often missed items to clean.
- Bath Faucet: Clean Aerator
- Fire Extinguisher Charged
- Water softener salt drum
- AC: Change Filters
- Clean Under Range Hood
- Check Heating System

2. Outside the House ~ Home Maintenance
Don’t forget about the outside of the house. After long winters there are certain things that get neglected that you should not forget about. I’ve listed items that will need special attention this summer.

3. Improve the House ~ Home Repair
Summer is the perfect time for home improvements because the weather is usually cooperative! Some of these tasks take an amazing amount of organization, so it’s great to have a way to remember all of the tasks! I’ve listed several printable lists to keep your home repairs organized.

4. Sale Items:
This month is a great time to buy items that go on sale in August summer apparel and back-to-school supplies. Now this the time to get them at discounted prices.
- Summer apparel ~ Summer apparel typically goes on sale in August so now is the time to pick up those summer items you’ve had your eye on. If you live in a state like Texas where the heat is letting up anytime soon, you’ll really score!
- Laptops ~ Laptops drop in price in August and September by about 10-20%! So, if your student is in need of a new laptop, be sure to get it now.
- Back-to-School Supplies ~ Office and school supplies get major price reductions this month so it’s super smart to stock up!
- Patio furniture goes on sale in August so if you need a new set, it might be prudent to buy one at a discounted price for next spring and summer!
- Who would guess that August would be a great time to buy a new mattress? Last year mattresses went on sale up to 50% off though, so August is a great time to look for mattress sales!
