December is my favorite month for shopping!!! {snicker} This makes the thought of cleaning groan-worthy because, let’s face it, I want to be out and about. Alas, we all know, cleaning has to happen. {darn} The December home repair checklist is easy to tackle because I made sure that I didn’t add too much to the list. Don’t stress, and try to get as much done as you can because as we all know, the holidays are right around the corner {almost crying} and then it’s crunch time!

Take a day and really plan and organize your schedule so you can clean and organize every room inside your home, as well as the outside of your home.
December Organization
Now that the weather is getting quite nippy, you might find more desire to get things done {especially before the snow piles up if you live where it snows!}. I’ve found that having cooler weather makes cleaning and organizing easier, but the key is to tackle it before the weather becomes a hinderance!
1. Inside the House ~ Cleaning
You’ve worked hard for months to keep up the house and now’s the time to focus on the holidays. {well done ~ pat on back} Which is why this month there’s not a lot listed so you can focus on traditions, serving others, making gifts, and creating moments that matter.
- Clean out the Pantry
- Try on all snow gear
- Set thermostats for winter

2. Outside the House ~ Home Maintenance
Again, as this month is the busiest of the year I’ve kept things super simple so you can focus on everything else.
- If possible, clean up front yard in prep for guests
- Hang holiday lights
3. Improve the House ~ Home Repair
Now that the weather has cooled off and temperatures have dropped {in most places} it’s a great time to do some home repairs without breaking a sweat! These ideas will make a huge difference in your home and don’t take a ton of effort! {score}
- Organize holiday card folder
- Print yearly calendar and add important dates
- New receipt file to hold shopping receipts
- Organize bill file for new year
4. Sale Items:
This month is a great time to buy items that go on sale in December for discounted prices.
Gift Cards ~ According to several articles I’ve read, gifts cards are the most desired gift this holiday season!
Toys ~ Now is the time to stock up on toys! Especially brand name toys like Barbie, Fisher-Price, LEGO, and the like!
Wedding Dresses ~ If you are getting married in the coming year, December is the best time to get your dress for the best price! Retailers try to make way for new styles for the new year and discounts of about 30% can be found!
Winter Gear ~ December is the month to buy that winter coat and apparel you’ve been wanting and needing. Research shows that the deepest deals are found in December.
TV’s ~ December is a great time to get a TV at a great price.
HINT: Wait on high end electronics, a new car (until the VERY end of December), and exercise equipment.
