There’s nothing I’d rather do in October than plan Halloween {one of my favorite holidays}, which makes the thought of cleaning a no-go. Alas, that can’t happen. This months home repair checklist is easy to-do because I didn’t add too many things to the list. Don’t stress too much, but try to get as much done as you can because the holidays are right around the corner and then time really gets tight!

October Organization
Now that the weather has cooled off {hopefully}, you might find more desire to get things done. {or maybe not} But, if you are like me, having cooler weather makes cleaning and organizing so much easier!
1. Inside the House ~ Cleaning
There are quite a few things inside your home that need to be deep cleaned that we sometimes forget about. I’ve listed some of the most often missed items to clean.
- Clean out master closet
- Try on all snow gear
- Set thermostats for winter
- Water softener salt drum
- AC: change filters

2. Outside the House ~ Home Maintenance
Don’t forget about the outside of the house. Now that the leaves are turning, it’s time to do fall cleanup and get ready for winter!
- Winterize water sprinklers
- Garage: remove paint, liquids
- Clean gutters
- Check downspouts
3. Improve the House ~ Home Repair
Now that the weather has cooled off {except in Texas! ha!} it’s a great time to do some home repairs without sweating buckets! These ideas will make a huge difference in your home and don’t take a ton of effort! {score}
- Organize crafting space
- Organize wrapping station
- Plan Christmas Cards
- Plan Christmas Eve
- Plan Christmas Day

4. Sale Items:
This month is a great time to buy items that go on sale in October for discounted prices.
- Cars ~ If you don’t mind having this years model, now is the time to buy as they are rolling out next years new car models.
- Travel Deals ~ Resorts offer amazing deals in October because school is in session and less people are traveling.
- Wedding Registry Items ~ Pick up items that appear on bridal registries this month like crystal, china, tableware and bedding.
- Cookware & Kitchen Accessories ~ Cookware and kitchen accessories start selling like hotcakes and for great prices as gifts for the holidays!
- Gas Grills ~ People stop buying outdoor grills in the fall, so now is a great time to get them at a discount.
- Plants ~ Plants usually start to get clearanced out, especially in areas with 4 seasons.
- Toys and Games ~ Toys and games start to go on sale for the Holiday season, so stock up now!
- Appliances ~ New yearly models start rolling out in October so you can usually get great deals on last years models.
- Jeans ~ Surprisingly, jeans go on sale in October because they are left-over from the back-to-school rush.
- Patio Furniture ~ If there are still any patio furniture pieces in stores, now is the time to get them at heavily discounted prices!
